In recent years, women’s college hockey has become much more popular, and schools across the country have begun offering it. Today, there are many colleges and universities battling it out for the top spot in women’s hockey. The top choices include the following:

1. The University of Wisconsin

Located in Madison, UW has a record of 21-1-0 and currently ranks as the #1 program for Women’s college hockey in the 2017-2018 season.

2. Boston College

With a record of 15-1-3, Boston College, located in downtown Boston, ranks both as one of the nation’s top Universities and the #2 school for women’s college hockey in the country.

3. Colgate

Colgate is located in Central New York State and is home to about 2,900 undergraduate students. The college offers 55 different majors and ranks as the #3 program in the U.S. for Women’s college hockey. The school’s record is 14-2-2.

4. Clarkson

Clarkson University is located in Potsdam, New York, and currently ranks as the #4 program for women’s college hockey in the U.S., according to USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine. The school has a record of 12-3-1.

Clarkson also won the 2017 NC women’s ice hockey championship, despite losing to Wisconsin twice during the regular season.

5. Minnesota State University and Ohio State

Minnesota State University and Ohio State are tied for fifth place when it comes to the top programs for hockey in the U.S. Minnesota State has a record of 13-4-1, while Ohio State has a record of 11-3-2.

Choosing a Hockey Program

While these schools rank in the top five spots for Women’s college hockey in the U.S. right now, there are many additional resources women may want to consider when choosing a school. Some of the most popular include:
